Maidenhead Interfaith part of Windsor and Maidenhead Community Forum
Cohesion Conference : Communication Helping to strengthen interfaith and inter-generation relationships
Maidenhead Interfaith is holding a conference on communication : How it divides communities and how it can be used to heal divisions and create harmony,
It focuses on relationships between generations, in particular between teenagers and adults, and within different faith groups
The conference features three : Rabbi Jonathan Romain OBE, the tv, radio and newspaper commentator who is Rabbi of Maidenhead Synagogue; Aik Saath, the innovative and highly effective youth charity that deals with conflict resolution; and Rajiv Chalani, a Maidenhead councillor whose business and interests is mediation, ranging from family disputes to national and international dispute resolution. The Youth Parliament will lead discussions on behalf of the teenage audience.
Following each session will be a workshop where the audience will divide into a number of small groups to discuss issues arising from the talks.
The afternoon session deals with the values and beliefs shared by most faith groups - the related workshops will explore how to communicate these positive aspects of faith to the wider public, using techniques discussed in the morning sessions..
