Sikhism: Guru Nanak Dev Ji Gurpurab

To celebrate the birth of Guru Nanak Dev Ji, the founder of Sikhism, Sikhs observe Gurpurab. It is one of the most sacred days in the faith, centered on his message of "Ik Onkar" (One God) and the equality of all humanity.

The festivities typically begin with Akhand Path, a continuous 48-hour reading of the Guru Granth Sahib. On the day itself, the celebration starts early (during Amrit Vela) with morning hymns, followed by large processions called Nagar Kirtans. The hallmark of the day is the massive Langar (community kitchen), where everyone, regardless of background, sits together to eat.
