Palm Sunday (Christianity)

Palm Sunday is a Christian feast that commemorates Jesus Christ's triumphant entry into Jerusalem, marking the beginning of Holy Week, which leads up to Easter. Observed by many Christian denominations, the day is named for the palm branches that the crowd laid in Jesus' path as a sign of homage and victory, shouting "Hosanna!" to praise Him as the Messiah. In modern observances, churches often distribute palm fronds to the congregation, which are sometimes shaped into crosses as a symbol of Christ's passion and sacrifice. The day serves as both a celebration of Christ's kingship and a reflection on His journey toward crucifixion.
